My Oga At The Top” Reasons Why The Jokes Must Stop

oga on topWhen a certain Nigeria Civil Defence Corp bigwig appeared on Channels Television some days back, a tsunami of various kind of jokes swept the entire airwaves and social media on how the guess kept on referring to his boss several times as “my oga at the top” and how the man basically doesn’t know his organizations website address.
People of all ages and class had various Display Pictures on their Blackberry Phones, Twitter, Facebook and other social networking websites.
The mistake we all are making is we aren’t concerned if the man was able to give substantial answers to vital questions thrown to him, example is clearing the air of the allegations made by the public that the agency is deep into job racketing.
If after posting dehumanizing jokes, graphical and video image on the man from National Civil Defence Corp it doesn’t still bring about accountability and transparency in the agency, then who is now the big fool? Is it the Man who kept praising “his oga at the top” while still getting kick backs from job racketing and other corruption based practices or the masses who were once making jest of the officer and are still jobless and with no hope of getting a job.
Nigerians should also realize they are doing the Officer more good than harm. Nigeria is a nation operated and governed on the basis of sentiments. Once you superior sees you as someone who is loyal and cool headed, they overlook your very great flaws which may include ignorance, corruption and even sluggishness.
A man who came on National Television to keep showering praises at “his oga at the top” even while being made to look silly is no where a fool. He understand the “Laws Of Power” as well as the Nigerian Hierachy rules and regulations and his acting according to the script perfectly. No one should be surprised if within a few months, this man that is being made jest of today for his ignorance is promoted severally even before his promotion is due.
The current president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan is a typical example of someone who understands the Nigeria Policy. When his former boss and Governor of Bayelsa was facing allegations of money laundry and embezzlement by the EFCC and Bayelsa State. House Of Assembly, all indications were obvious of his boss impeachment and Jonathan rising to the number one seat of his state as Governor, he (Jonathan) was never in a hurry to take over power. He praised his former boss even after he became governor. Same scenario took place a few years later only this time he assumed the president of Nigeria. Yet with all the many flaws of Jonathan and his government today, never has once Jonathan come out to run down the late President Umar Yaradua or his policies while in power.
There are rules in leadership and followership and the number one binding rule is Loyalty.
For those mocking this man about not knowing his organization’s website address, even though it won’t stand as an excuse not to know it, do this people also realize that more than 95% of our present Bank CEO’s do not also know their bank’s website or slogan. Most Nigerian Senators, Honorable members, Ministers and Governors can’t recite Nigeria’s National Pledge not to talk of the Anthem.
Let’s start tackling more inportant issues and look for solutions rather than being engrossed in irrelevant and non beneficial discussions.

Me think from the whole “my oga at the top” clip I watched that the man is not ICT compliant. But despite the fact that we are in the information age and the man is supposed to be a little ICT compliant I don’t think it could affect his job so badly if he is not. The video nonetheless is all for humour, Nigerians love to find reasons to laugh away their problems and I don’t see anything wrong with that too.

As you rightly said, Nigeria is governed by sentiments and that is why people are making a big deal out of the ‘my oga at the top’ saga. Nigerians love to sweep the vital issues off the table while they dwell in the frivolities. That is one of the key reasons for our stagnation as a nation!
  10. Fred
Useless Bastard posting a useless article.. Foolish man… Dont run from the truth a commandant that doesnt know the website of his organisation and you are here trying to defend the idiot… assholes..
  11. Loudspeeka
He was interviewed cos the fraudulent websites created to defraud Nigerians in the guise of NSCDC employment. Appearing on t.v implies he should be able to tell Us which websites are used for fraud by fraudsters and give us a genuine URL. Mr. Obafaiye Shem is a foolish fool. Does he mean he doesn’t surf the internet? He has no excuse for that. Mr writer or na Oga @ the top. That phrase must continue till when it fades naturally. That’s all.
  12. I believe this article was allowed †̥☺ b posted on net by oga at the top order. I see no reason why matured and educated person will waste his productive time †̥☺ come up with trash such as dis. O Nigeria, we have a long way to go. When would wwe start getting it right on nuetral ground without sentiment attach to it. The article so glearing with lot of attrocities and blunder. Sit well oga @ d top is watching you God()
  13. OlurotimiAB
What the heck are you writing!!! Who even permitted this article to be posted. You are just talking way out of point and not making sense at all. How does political father and son shit come to play in this scenario. We are talking about a man who shouldnt be in the position in the first place, a man who is not knowledgeable about his position. He didnt even give give any precise answer to all the questions he was asked. His english and responses were not even well constructed, kept blabbing and beating around the bush and you sit there and write a senseless and baseless article…I shake my head for you…mtcheewwwwww
  14. ak
The problem with the man was absolute lack of composure which is a vital quality of a leader at that level. I wish him good luck
  15. teslim
there you go again. You always fail to understand the main issue at hand. You call his castigation utter rubbish or u are probably just seeking attention? Wake up man and face “the man is a misfit”
  16. Free man
D person who posted dis article is a no brainer. Why do nigeria deviate from d fact that a man a leader in his on army does not know his website AYFS

  19. Why are some people making foolish comment here. Let me are you nigerian. Was it reported that the man did not answer the question? For Christ sake if u read the report very well, u wil understand that he is afraid of giving out the original web address, because it’s obviously they have many address which he don’t know actually the one they demanded until the questioner later put the question right . Why are mocking him and calling him a fool that don’t know their web address. Are you people the one that answered it, beside he later give the reporter the answer, so i don’t see any reason this should broacast. Bigup! People of nigeria and focus on the things that matters and not things that doesn’t matter pls…. Thanks.
